In recent years, high-rise buildings and museums in various countries outside of Japan have garnered widespread attention for their use of large ceramic panels and other such ceramic exterior elements. Compared with metallic elements, those made from ceramic are lighter in weight, resistant to dirtying, and offer the advantage of comparatively easy maintenance. Moreover, technological advances in the field have led to a wider array of possible finish colors and textures, opening up greater design possibilities. Not only do large three-dimensional ceramic elements impart a more refined look to buildings, they are sustainable and offer high recycling potential if end-of-life products are recovered in a planned manner. These advantages have earned them increasing popularity.
